Bay 4WD Hire Centre can arrange your ferry transfers and the National Parks and Wildlife permits required for driving and camping on the island.

There are a number of Ferries/Barges running over to Fraser island each day with the return price for one vehicle, driver and up to four passengers being $145, with any additional passengers at a cost of $10.50 each.

• Hervey Bay (River Heads) to Fraser Island
  7.15 am, 8.30 am, 10.15 am, 11.00 am, 2.30 pm, 3.30 pm.
  
  
• Fraser Island to Hervey Bay (River Heads)
  8.30 am, 9.00 am, 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm, 4.00 pm.

National Parks require a vehicle entry permit for the island. The permit is placed inside the windscreen in the same fashion as a registration sticker and costs $35.40.

Camping permits are also required and the tag provided must be displayed on your tent. Costs are $4.50 per person / per night.
